a lot of既可以修饰可数名词，也可以修饰不可数名词，表示很多的意思，而动词应用单数或复数形式，则看那名词而定和a lot无关。a lotof在语气上很正式，所以，a lot of一般用于书面口语。

1、a lot of通常作书面用语，用在更加正式的场合里。lots of比较口语化，用在比较口语的场合中。
